Bob's Final Days
by Rosalie Berry
Bob wrote in the Spots News issue # 3, 2006 his last President's Message "The radiation treatments reduced the tumors in my head. No new tumors anywhere. I have very little pain. No further treatment is planned at this time. I will see the oncologist again in two month
I am pleased with the harmony in the club and hope this continues throughout the years to come. The Board of Directors are very active. Each has their area of responsibility.
Thanks to all who sent cards and kept my family in their prayers. I may not be able to fulfill the duties of this office. In mid January I plan to release my duties and turn it over to Vice-President Bill Rice. Rosalie will continue as secretary throughout 2007 to train the new secretary."
Bob passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2007 here at home. It has now been over a year and I still have times of grieving for him. We were married 52 years and 22 days and both of us earlier said many times we would do it again the same way.
I probably still have 90 rabbits and they are all housed here at my home. I have more English Spots than any other breed. This was Bob's favorite breed and was one of the first breeds he got after his graduation from the University of Wisconsin. Earl Hord and Mr. Herman in Colorado made sure Bob got plenty of breeding stock. Bob enjoyed judging All Breed Shows, from the East Coast to the West Coast, from the North to the South. He judged many ARBA conventions and National Shows. He really enjoyed judging county shows and was teaching the youth at the same time. He especially liked to joke with you. This was a sign he really appreciated you.
Everything Bob did was for the betterment of the ARBA and the AESRC. He promoted rabbits every chance he could.
I am doing o.k. I cherish the past and do what I gotta do.
Blessings,
Rosalie Berry, Past Secretary/Treasurer
American English Spot Rabbit Club
